3029 53rd Avenue NE
Maddock, North Dakota
Wow, this very private 10.66 acre farmstead certainly sits in the middle of some very good hunting country. There is an abundance of deer, the ducks and geese are frequently passing by, there have been wild turkeys in the trees and a friendly moose has even made a pass through the area, and your only a short distance from the shores of Devils Lake where some of the best fishing in the Midwest takes place. This would make a fantastic home away from home while hunting in North Dakota
The large older farm home has been the family home of a number of residents throughout the years. The present owner is leaving the area so this is your chance. As you enter the home there is a porch to take care of those coats, caps and boots before entering the kitchen. The home has an extremely large kitchen with an abundance of custom cabinets that were installed a number of years ago, they extended entirely across the south wall of the kitchen with a large window overlooking the yard. You even get a bonus with a standup pantry that opens with a turnstile set of shelves.
Just off the kitchen is a ¾ bath and a main floor laundry room with a number of newer cabinets, there is also a sink in this room to do a little rinsing of clothes if you wish or with the cabinet space and the water you could even use this room as a wonderful canning area. There is and entry to this room directly from the back yard as well or you can also go to the basement from this spot.
From the kitchen you head the other direction into a very large formal dining room with a picture window facing to the east, if entertaining is your thing this room will handle a house full of company, just off the dining room is the living room which has a very large picture window facing to the west, there is also a bedroom on this level.
On the upper level there are three bedrooms along with a full bath. The basement is a good basement made of rock but pretty stable. This is where the newer propane boiler sits, as the home has hot water heat, the water heater is newer and the electrical service has been updated to breakers, the home has had much of the plumbing replaced with copper pipes. The home is on rural water and it also has a well with three yard hydrants that could be used to water animals or water your flowers or garden.
The farm home is surrounded by trees which provide a very private closed spot for you, while the remainder of the farmstead to the south is wide open and very spacious with so much beautiful green open area. This is where the farm buildings are located, there is an old barn that is not in good condition and may have seen its better days, however your imagination could possibly change that. There is another shed that had been used to store horses, or it could be used as another garage, while right across from this is a large building with an open door, the building has a real bend in it, however the owner has said they talked to a builder and the building could be straightened fro about $800. There is a single stall garage just west of the house as well as a couple of other smaller buildings.
The home could use a good refurbishing as the flooring should possibly be replaced as what is there has seen some better days, while doing that a good coat of paint would top it off. The exterior of the home could use a coat of paint as well. However the setting is beautiful and private and would make a wonderful place in which to raise a family or the other option would be to make this your own private hunting lodge, or your home away from home. What a great place to store those boats and let those hunting dogs run loose.
